The Father’s Precious Gift
Romans 8:32. Consider the gift that the Father has given in His Son Jesus delivered over for us. If … while we were God’s enemies God gave His Son, what would He be willing to give for us now that we are His children?
Good Friday! What makes it good?
To understand why what we celebrate at Easter is good, we need to go all the way back to the days of Moses in the land of Egypt. God directed the Israelites to take the blood of a lamb and mark their doorposts to be a sign to them and to Him, that the destroyer would not touch them. God was working both deliverance and judgement in the same works, but it worked differently for His people than it did…
Choosing the Twelve
Luke 6:12-16. After spending the night in prayer Jesus chooses the twelve from the larger group of disciples who followed Him. We see that the Lord does not call equipped men, rather He equips those who m He calls. He uses common men to accomplish extraordinary things. He uses the weak, simple, and low men who rest in Him that His name receive all glory in His workings.
Lord of the Sabbath
Luke 6:1-11. Wine and Wine Skins
Luke 5:33-39. Jesus continues revealing the difference between the religion of the righteous, or at least those who think themselves righteous, and the religion of the man who knows he is a sinner in need of God’s mercy.
Calling Sinners
Luke 5:27-32. In this text we see the calling of Levi (Matthew) to follow Jesus. A call to a sinner to repentance. A call to faith in Christ. What hope is found in this passage, as we see a man most in the culture would have said was too much of a sinner to even be saved.
Jesus Cures the Incurable
Luke 5:12-26. Jesus heals the man full of leprosy and the paralytic man demonstrating his authority to forgive sins.
Catching Men
Luke 5:1-11. A miraculous catch of fish opens the eyes of Peter, James, and John to the reality of who Jesus is. The result, a glimpse at their own sinfulness, a cry for mercy, and a call to follow. Those men left everything to follow Jesus. Have we?
Baptism and the Believer
Baptism is a wonderful event in the life of a believer. Today we investigate what is baptism, what is baptism not, and why would a person be baptized.
The Authority of Jesus
Luke 4:31-37. What is your authority? Do you understand where Jesus fits in that question? Here in Luke 4, we see Jesus teaching and those who hear Him are amazed at His teaching, and further at His power behind that teaching.
