Out of the Darkness

Luke 3:1-6. Luke give us a historical perspective of the times in which John the Baptizer began his ministry and ultimately when Jesus comes onto the world stage. It is a dark time when sinful men rule on the earth. God’s work in not in the least stifled by darkness. He works great things right in the midst of darkness in bringing men to Himself.

Alone in Jerusalem at Age 12

Luke 2:41-52. Jesus at age 12 alone in Jerusalem sits listening to and questioning the leaders of Israel. He amazes them with His understanding of scripture.

Witnesses to Jesus identity

Luke 1:21-38. A less familiar portion of the birth story of our Lord, Mary and Joseph submit to the law of God in circumcising Jesus and offering the sacrifice prescribed. They encounter two witnesses in the Temple, Simeon, a righteous and devote man, and Anna, a prophetess who lives an exemplary life who give testimony, under the leading of the Holy Spirit to the identity of this child Jesus.

God is Love!

1 John 4:7- 5:5. God is Love! What does that mean? John says if we have been born of God we too love our brothers in Christ. If we are born again, we reflect the self sacrificing love of God. So do we? Are we willing to take on burdens, hardships, stumbling blocks on ourselves so that those around us can be blessed?

Glory in the Highest!

Luke 2:8-20. Jesus birth is announced to the most unlikely of people who become the first evangelists in the New Testament.

Luke 2:1-7. God at work in the world to bring about the exact conditions, in the exact place, at the exact time to bring forth His Son Jesus Christ. Christmas without the fluff. Simple humble circumstances as the King of Kings is born.

The Practice of Life

1 John 3. What is the practice of your life? The apostle John tells us in this letter that by the practice of our lives it is evident if we are children of God, or children of Satan.
