Christmas From Eternity Past: Part 1

John 1:1-5 Where does the gospel of Jesus Christ begin? Mark begins with the teaching ministry of Jesus in roughly 30A.D. Matthew and Luke both back up and begin in 4 B.C with the birth of Jesus. But is that the beginning? Praise God we have four gospel accounts, because John takes us to the true beginning.

Parable of Two Sons

Luke 15:11-32 Jesus continues speaking to the Pharisees who grumble that He is welcoming sinners to Himself, with the third of three parables aimed at teaching the joy of heaven at sinners repenting. This story however, presses further, showing the Pharisees for who they were. They did not have the same thinking as God in this regard. Joy in Heaven

Luke 15:1-10 Jesus continues his message on commitment to Christ, and as the Pharisees grumble that Jesus welcomes sinners, He tells a series of three parables to show the true purpose of Jesus in this world.

Go Out and Compel People to Come

Luke 14:15-24 Jesus continues to correct and rebuke the Pharisees who see themselves as guaranteed recipients of the Kingdom of God. Here we see a parable of great significance for us. The gospel invitation is generously wide. It extends even to the highways and hedges, and praise God it does!

Grace, Gratitude, Generosity

2 Cor. 8:1-15. Paul encourages the church towards giving, and sets before the Corinthians as an example of giving the churches in Macedonia. We can learn much from this passage of the heart with which a believer responds to the Lord in our giving.
