Humble the Exhalted/Exalt the Humble
Luke 14:1-14 Jesus is invited to a meal with the intention of catching him in the act of breaking the Sabbath law. Jesus turns the tables on his hosts and tells a parable to teach on the importance of humility.
God’s Sovereignty/Man’s Responsibility
Luke 13:31-35 Jesus warned that Herod is seeking to kill Him responds with some amazing truth that we need to be familiar with. God is absolutely sovereign over salvation, but that doesn’t not in any way mean that man is not fully responsible for coming to God. Most who deny the doctrines of grace do so because they can’t see these clear truths of scripture.
Praise the Lord, the Lord is Good!
Psalm 135. Thanksgiving doesn’t start, it doesn’t focus, and it doesn’t find its end in what God has done “for us”. Thanksgiving is to focus on who our God is!
Strive to Enter
Luke 13:22-30. As Jesus taught, often those listening were led to ask question regarding his message. On this occasion the question raised is this: “Lord, are there just a few who are being saved?” The answer Jesus gives has significance for all.
The Little Things
Luke 13:18-21 Jesus often used figurative language to help His audience gain understanding particularly with regards to the kingdom of God. It is so foreign to us, if we are ever to understand we need Him to speak in terms we will understand. But as we study the parables of Jesus, we must understand there are rule of interpretation we must incorporate. In this passage, Jesus tells two parables which convey 2 truths about the kingdom.

Lifting the Burden
Luke 13:10-17 Jesus heals a woman on the Sabbath which causes the ruler of the synagogue to become angry and demand that people not come for healing on the Sabbath. Jesus rebukes this idea and shows that the Sabbath is given as a mercy to man.
Therefore We Have Hope
Lam. 3:20-24 Pastor Steve was away this week, and we were joined by Andrew Wright who share a message of great hope from the Word. God’s faithful is absolute and we can trust confidently in Him.
Repent or Perish
Luke 13:1-9 Is repentance necessary for salvation? Can one simply believe without ever repenting of sin and hope to be saved? Jesus answers this question with a resounding “NO!” In this extremely evangelistic sermon found in Luke 12:1-13:9 we see that our response to sin is very important.
Prepare For What’s To Come
Luke 12:49-59 Jesus continuing in his sermon speaks of the coming judgement, and what standing for Christ would bring in this world: Division. He also points to the need for discernment. As judgement is coming, how should we live?
