A Promise Made is a Debt Unpaid: Part 2
Luke 1:67-79. Zechariah’s prophetic praise in response to the Lord’s bringing His Messiah in fulfillment of the promises to Abraham. Three covenants which are not three separate entities, but rather extensions of the original promise to Abraham. Therefore we must understand what those promises are.
Reject the World
1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world. John wrote this letter that Christians would be able to have concrete means of self examination. We have looked at 5 assurances of our faith so far, and in our passage today we are presented with a sixth test. Do we love the world or does our love for Christ compel us to reject the system of the world.
Maturing in Christ
1 John2:12-15. John presents three life stages in the Christian faith. One assurance that our faith is real genuine saving faith is the fact that we are growing in maturity in Christ.
Promises and the Promiser
Luke 1:57-66. God brings his promise of a child born to Zechariah and Elizabeth to fulfillment. This passage of scripture is all about God’s faithfulness to His promises. So we ask the question: Do God’s promises depend on our response to Him? Some say yes, but what does the Bible say?
Blessings Come Through Believing
Luke 1:34-45. Mary, told of the child she will bear, a child that would be great, who would reign on David’s throne, who would be the Son of the Most High, is face with a choice. To believe, or not. We see that she did believe, and she was greatly blessed through her faith. We too are blessed when we believe.
Can We Have Assurance That We Really Are Saved?
1 John 5:13. Through out all ages of church history there have been and always will be truly converted as well as unconverted people within the fellowship of the church. How can a man know for sure that he is saved? The apostle John wrote to a church to answer that very question. This is the first message in our study of the book of 1 John.
The Reason for the Hope that is in You
1 Peter 3:15, John 10:11 Are you a believer in Jesus Christ? If so, then your life should be filled with a hope that is found no where but in Christ. Have you considered the reason you have to hope?
