The Believer’s Expereince in The Spirit

Galatians 3:1-5 Paul turns in this letter to bring correction to the believers in the churches in the Galatian region for drifting into believing a message of error. They have been bewitched by a false gospel, and have fallen for its lies about ho a man is saved. Paul points to their own experience as his first line of defense in defending the gospel that he set before them in chapter 2, a gospel of justification by faith apart from…

Justification Through faith

Galatians 2:16 How can a man be right before the Lord? Paul rebukes Peter for falling back into thinking that adherence to the ceremonial law somehow justifies him before the Lord, and in one of the clearest statements in the New Testament, Paul stresses that justification is not in any way by works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ.

Fairy-tale? No, We Believe in Historical Fact!

Galatians 4:4-5. The Christian message is often rejected as fairy-tale by people who are ignorant to the fact that our faith rests not on the imagination of men like all other earthly religions, Christianity rests on historical fact. Christ’s birth, His life, His death, and His resurrection are all events based in history, and that history supports the truth the Bible presents.

But You, Watch Yourselves

Luke 21:34-36 Jesus instructs His disciples to live in the expectation that He could come for His people at any time. We need to live ready, that this opening event of the end times does not take us by surprise.

Implications of Faith in Christ

1 Peter 2:1-12 What is the result of faith in Christ? Does it have implications for how we live and witness? Of course, and Peter spells out some of these in the second chapter of his first epistle.

The Hope That Is In You

1 Peter 3:15 calls believers to be prepare to give a defence of the hope we have to anyone who asks. This assumes that as Christians we actually do have hope. But a generic hope can’t be defended, it must be a personal hope. Can we have such a hope? Yes we can!

How Can a Man Be Right Before God?

Luke 18:9-14 Jesus speaks a parable to those who trust in themselves that they are righteous. The world is full of all kinds of religion seeking to answer our question, but the Lord shows that there is one way to be right with God, and it is not by our own merit.

The Importance of Thanksgiving

Luke 17:11-19 Man’s condition, according to Romans 1, is such that we supress the truth of God, and refuse to honor Him and give Him thanks. Here in Luke 17, we see a picture of ten men, ten lepers who come to Jesus for healing. Our Lord graciously heal all ten. Only one of these returns to Jesus in a heart of praise and thanksgiving. Do we return to give Him thanks?
