Luke 13:22-30. As Jesus taught, often those listening were led to ask question regarding his message. On this occasion the question raised is this: “Lord, are there just a few who are being saved?” The answer Jesus gives has significance for all.
Lifting the Burden
Luke 13:10-17 Jesus heals a woman on the Sabbath which causes the ruler of the synagogue to become angry and demand that people not come for healing on the Sabbath. Jesus rebukes this idea and shows that the Sabbath is given as a mercy to man.
Who Is My Neighbor?
Luke 10:29-37. Responding to the scribe who asked “what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus explains who is the neighbor that is to be loved by telling the parable of the good Samaritan. Do you love you neighbor?
What Shall I Do?
Luke 10:25-29 A man asks Jesus “what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” This question should be principle in the mind of every person. Jesus answers not by telling the man he has no worries because God loves him, but rather by pointing the man to the Law of God. Fulfill the law and you will live! So how are you doing at keeping the law?
Determined Toward Mercy
Luke 9:51-56 Jesus willingly set His face toward Jerusalem. He was determined to head to the cross for unworthy sinners like us. As they traveled toward Jerusalem, travelling through Samaria, a village rejects Jesus, and two disciples ask the Lord if they should call down fire from heaven to consume them. Condemnation is not the role of Christians. As Christ came in a mission of mercy, so we are sent to preach the good news in mercy.
