The Crucified Life

Luke 9:23-27 Self denial, daily cross bearing, and following. The result of the saving grace of our Lord. There is a fundamental difference between believers, true disciples of Jesus, and the rest of the world not only in our confession of His identity but also in our response to who He is and what He has done that we might be saved. Though we are great sinners, we have a great savior, enough to save us from the consequence, the…

The must’s of Jesus

Luke 9:21-22 Jesus make it clear that there are some things that must happen in His life and ministry. He must suffer many things, be rejected, be killed, and rise again. As we examine these things we see the gospel message clearly presented.

Jesus Identity Revealed

Luke 9:18-20 Luke’s gospel account has been building toward the climax of Luke’s purpose for writing the book. Jesus identity seems to be in focus, but more than just His identity. We see in this passage both a focus on “who Jesus is” and how men respond to Him. Here we find the most important question anyone could ever be asked, and it is a question everyone must answer: “Who do you say Jesus is?”

Luke 9:10-18 The single greatest miracle, in terms of the number of people involved (other than the resurrection), is the feeding of the 5,000 men which is found in all four gospel accounts.

Sent to Preach

Luke 9:1-9 Jesus sends out the twelve to preach the good news of the Kingdom of God. There is much directly applicable for us today in the mission Jesus gives the apostles in this passage. May we be faithful to our Lord and proclaim His message to the ends of the earth.

How Do We Respond to Sin?

We are all sinners, and sin has many consequences. So what does a godly response to personal sin look like? Psalm 51 gives us a great look at the Christian response to sin.

Life & Healing

Luke 8:40-56 Jesus returns to Capernaum and is met by a great crowd, including two people that the gospel focuses on. One man name Jairus, whose only daughter, twelve years old is at the point of death. He begs Jesus to come heal her, and while on their way a woman came to Jesus from behind and touched the edge of his cloak and is healed of twelve years of bleeding. we learn much about the human condition. Jesus is…

The Transformation of a Man

Luke 8:26-39 Jesus and His disciples encounter a man with many demons. Jesus heals him and the people witness the transformation of this man whom they have known.

Calming the Storm

Luke 8:22-25 Jesus and His disciples sail across the sea of Galilee and encounter a storm. The fearful disciples awake Jesus with desperate pleas for help. Jesus demonstrates His authority to new heights as He calms this storm. He then asks the question we would never want Jesus to ask us: “Where is your faith?”
